Lions Club of Belgaum, KLES Health Institution Campus-Introduction

           Lions Club of Belgaum, KLES Health Institution Campus which is fondly known as JNMC Campus Club is one of the unique clubs in Lions organization, comprising mostly of Consultants, Resident doctors and other health professionals. It was inaugurated on 27th June 2011 and its uniqueness lies in its exclusive membership, open only to the students of KLES Health Institutions and its target service area mainly focused on providing grass root health facilities. It takes pride in holding Health check-up camps, Blood Donation Drive, Awareness Campaigns, Clean the city campaign(Now called Swacchh Belagaum Abhiyan), Plantation drives and extending help to under privileged children of adopted schools. With collaboration of JNMC and KLE Dr. PK Hospital and MRC, the club also provides free cataract surgeries to the needy, under the Sight First agenda of Lions International.

        Under the able guidance of current President Dr. Arvind L. Tenagi, Professor and Consultant Ophthalmologist, the club in its current year has held more than 20 health check-up camps in surrounding rural areas with around 10,000 people being and around 500 getting cataract surgeries. We have also organized a health check-up camp for school children at Madihalli,Hukkeri where 200 children were screened and free medications were distributed.  Apart from that Club also has participated in Bike Rally in remembrance of our Freedom fighters and Soldiers on Independence Day, has organized candle light march for world peace on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, and has extended financial help to around 50 deaf children to get hearing aids.
