The Future

The ‘Research Unit’ is working with the Global Network for developing a Trial to Increase the Use of Antenatal Corticosteroids in Developing Countries” among mothers at risk of a preterm birth, to be implemented in communities in African, Asian and Latin American countries, to reduce neonatal mortality in preterm babies. A second trial protocol “Effectiveness of Kangaroo Mother Care in Reducing Mortality and Morbidity among Low Birth Weight Babies – A community-based cluster RCT” being authored by the ‘Research Unit’ will aim at reducing neonatal mortality and promoting optimum infant growth and development. The ‘Research Unit’ is gearing up for recognition as a National Institutes of Health “Center of Excellence in Women’s and Children’s Health”. Simultaneously, it is also working towards being designated as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Reproductive Health.
