The department of medical gastroenterology provides its clinical services at the KLE’s  Prabhakar Kore hospital,  which is a 2200 bedded multi-specialty hospital .the hospital has a 128 slice CT scan machine and 3 tesla MRI machine, a PET scan and GAMMA camera for radio nuclear studies and a dedicated cath lab for non-cardiac interventional radiological procedures.

The medical Gastroenterology outpatient department is functional 6 days a week, looking after routine gastroenterology and liver patients and providing all diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services. The Department provides 24/7 emergency gastroenterology services including emergency therapeutic endoscopies.  The Department has a 8 Bedded dedicated Liver ICU for effective management of critical liver patients and a dedicated endoscopy OT for endoscopies under anesthesia.

Specialty clinics like Inflammatory Bowel disease (IBD) clinic and liver disease clinics are conducted regularly. The department conducts extensive Hepatitis B & C Screening & Vaccination & NAFLD screening camps.

Since Inception the department has seen and treated more than a Lakh patients on OPD basis, with more than fifteen thousand as inpatients. The department has performed around 75,000 diagnostic endoscopies and 5,000 therapeutic endoscopies. Over 350 manometry procedures have been performed, over 300 Hydrogen breath tests and more than 60 capsule endoscopies have been performed. More than 20,000 subjects have been screened for hepatitis B & C and 21,000 subjects have been vaccinated and more than 800 patients are put on treatment.
