Clinical Facilities in the Hospital :

There are eight units having 30 beds each [20 male + 10 female], a total of 210 beds, Seven unit heads’ cabins, seven teaching rooms spread out in two floors of the teaching hospital and one teaching room at OPD. The teaching rooms have LCD projectors connected to the OTs. A laboratory in the ward performs most of the biochemical and hematological tests. A laparoscopic surgical skills lab is set up in the ward having endotrainer, master DVDs and the latest books on laparoscopic surgery. A “clinical Skills lab” for undertaking the training in basic surgical skills, Suturing and knotting techniques and stapler anastomosis for surgery and allied speciality postgraduates. A gastro-intestinal endoscope suite for doing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Four operation rooms have been allotted to Department of General Surgery. The operation rooms are equipped with state of the art gadgets. Two laparoscopic surgery sets are provided to the Department. A minor OT is provided in the OPD for basic minor operations. Diabetic Foot Clinic is running in the OPD and it caters to all the diabetic patients for their foot assessment, prevention and treatment of foot problems.

Teaching Hospital Surgical Ward

Facilities in the College :

The department has about 110 sq meters in the college building for the office and 80sq m for the seminar hall with a seating capacity for 50 people. There are two desktops with internet connection, three laptops, and an LCD projector. All PG seminars, symposia and journal clubs and UG teaching programs are conducted using Audio Video aids. The department has a good collection of pathology specimens, x-rays and surgical instruments for teaching purpose. The departmental library has latest editions of 116 text books and reference books. Live streaming of operative workshops from different hospitals all over the country are beamed for the benefit of postgraduates. The department of General Surgery has started a Cadaveric Skill Lab where all complex and routine surgical procedures are demonstrated and performed by the postgraduate students. Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospitals provides adequate clinical material for UG & PG teaching.
