Every great event brings one absolute new thing to the world. Such an event was the establishment of Poison Detection Centre. The centre was established under the visionary guidance of Honourable Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore on 4th August 2008 with the objective of recognizing the problem of poisoning and of the need for specialized facilities to deal with it. This centre is first of its kind in Karnataka.
During a poison emergency every second counts. Close association between poison information and treatment services will help in reducing the mortality considerably. Nearly 75% of poisonings consulted to poison centres can be managed effectively by telephone consultations without further necessity of additional cost for Health Care facilities.

Facilities Offered:
- Free round the clock instant access to detailed information on poison and poisoning through e mail, telephone and personal contact.
- Toxicological analysis [qualitative] of blood, urine and stomach contents of the living being.
- Detection of cases of poisoning due to chemicals, drugs, plant poison.
