Department of Neurology was started in 1994 and presently has Post-Doctoral DM Neurology and BSc Neurosciences Technology courses. Post-doctoral DM Neurology course was started in 2005 and the annual intake was increased to two students since 2011. The annual intake has been increased to four from the academic year 2020 – 2021. There is dedicated teaching program for both DM and BSC Neurosciences Technology students. DM students have opportunity to learn quality Neurology, skilled training in Neurophysiology and Research with paper presentations at National & International Conferences. DM students also get opportunity to learn Neuropathology and Clinical Neuro-Psychology at NIMHANS for a short period. External postings include Neuroradiology, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Child Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology.
Students of BSc Neurosciences Technology get dedicated teaching sessions and hands-on experience in the lab. Alumni of BSc Neurosciences Technology have good opportunities both for employment and future studies.
The department of Neurology provides the clinical services in the KLES’ Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research, Belagavi. It has dedicated faculty who provide state of the art, treatment facilities for majority of neurological disorders. Hospital has a dedicated stroke unit, 24X7 emergency services, 3 Tesla MRI, PET scan facility and high end digital EEG and video-EEG and Electroneuromyography – Evoked Potentials (ENMG-EP) equipment.
