The Department of Neurosurgery at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research Center, Belgaum came into existence in the year 1982, when Dr. S. S. All operations on the brain and spine are all carried out by skilled surgeons highly specialized in different parts of neurosurgery and surgeons using micro neurosurgery.  All modalities of investigations like 1.5T MRI, 64 slice spiral CT, angiography facilities and round the clock laboratory services are available at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research Centre.

The Department is well equipped with ultra-modern technology and equipments from time to time  i.e. the Zeiss operative microscope, various neurosurgical equipments like high speed drill, craniotomes, microsurgical instruments, Sugita and Mayfield clamps, Maquet operating table, C-arm X-ray machines with image intensifiers etc, which are necessary to provide state of the art care at par.  Efforts are being made to procure equipment for stereotactic neurosurgery, neuroendoscopy and cavitron ultrasosonic surgical aspirator.

The neurosurgery patients are housed in the following areas: Neurosurgery General Ward in Malaprabha Floor (G+3); Neurosurgery ICU in Ghataprabha Floor (G+4); Hi-tech ICU with monitors in Markandaya Floor (G+5), Trauma Care & Emergency Medical Services Ward in the Causality Section; Private/Semi-Private & periphery variable.
